He practises as a commercial litigator, dealing primarily with trust disputes, collective investments and company litigation, applications for injunctive relief, and contractual disputes. He also deals with professional negligence matters, cross-border insolvency and probate cases, and regulatory/financial services matters. Jean Marie also specialises in Employment Law and acts for both institutional and individual employers and employees in all aspects of this field, including complex multi-jurisdiction employment disputes and Jersey law contracts for employees seconded to other countries from Jersey.
Publications
He has contributed a prize-winning article to the Jersey and Guernsey Law Review and was the co-author of endnotes for the republication of Le Gros’ Traité du Droit Coûtumier de Jersey in 2007. Jean-Marie speaks fluent French and conversational Spanish.

He has over 15 years’ experience as a litigator. Called to the English bar (2005) (as a major scholar and prize winner of the Middle Temple) and Jersey bar (2010). Formerly a partner with Hanson Renouf (2013) and Benest Corbett Renouf (now BCR Law), he co-founded Seymour Law LLP in 2019.
Member of the Employment Lawyers’ Association and the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists.
